Our Courts Get a Facelift

img

Hello Members

I hope you all enjoyed your Labor Day weekend. September is here and it comes with lots of news for all tennis fans out there. To begin with, the first stage of our courts facelift is over with and we now have beautiful newly resurfaced courts. We are still waiting stage 2 which will bring us new benches with a canopy for much needed shade on courts 4,5,6,7. We will also update our wind screens on those courts for a darker background to enhance ball visibility. Ain’t that awesome!

Now that our courts are in pristine condition, some of you might want to participate in this USTA
season. We have plenty of playing opportunity for everyone and if you are looking for a team to
play on, please contact the team’s captain. With all of our juniors back in school, all of our
morning adult clinics are back to a 9am start. And there are still spaces available into our Fall
Junior Tennis session. You can find our Fall Junior Tennis flyer on our website for more details
on classes days and times.

Finally, this September keep your eyes open for a new lunch time clinic and a new 6 weeks
beginners class. We are also working on a wooden racquet tournament so get your old wooden
racquets out of the closets… That’s a lot of exciting new things!

As Always, feel free to contact me with any suggestions and/or comments about the tennis life
at La Madrona.

See you all on the courts

Cheers
Fred

Fall Aquatics Programming

Swim Team

img

The La Madrona Swim Team is a small, pre-competition team. Group C is for beginning level swimmers aged 4 to 6* who have had swim lessons and are comfortable swimming in the lap pool, but need more stroke technique. Group B is for intermediate level swimmers who will continue to work on stroke technique and build endurance. Group A is for returning team members aged 9 to 14* and for swimmers who have a working knowledge of the four competitive swim strokes. Focus will be on endurance, speed and technique. All swimmers must be able to swim one length of freestyle and be able to float on their backs. Focus will be on fun, stroke improvement and confidence building. This is a great opportunity to advance your skills and become a better swimmer for life. *The ages are a general guide - a swim assessment may be needed to find the best group for your swimmer. Contact our aquatics director at [email protected] for more information.

Water Polo

img

Our Water Polo program will introduce children to a sport that combines elements of soccer, basketball and hockey with swimming. Each participant must be able to swim one length of the pool and tread water for one minute.

Intro to Diving

The La Madrona intro to diving class is taught by former Olympic Diver Ariel Rittenhouse. She will teach children the fundamental skills needed to be successful in the sport of diving.
