New Treadmills Arriving!

imgWe are thrilled to announce that the four brand new treadmills have officially been shipped and are on their way. They should be arriving any day.

These top of the line Precor treadmills will be available inside the fitness room. An outdoor motor less treadmill will also be arriving soon to continue to offer an option for those that are enjoying being outside!

 

New Group Fitness Classes

20-20-20- Thursdays 6:30-7:30pm (starting January 12th)

This 60 minute workout targets the primary fitness components needed for a total body workout. .This exercise session follows a 20-20-20 format and includes 20 minutes of studio cycling, 20 minutes of muscle conditioning with weights, followed by 20 minutes of Yoga and relaxation.

Tai Chi- Fridays at 12:15pm (starting in February)
This self-paced system of gentle exercise and stretching features a series of warm ups and postures that flow into the next without pause. Tai Chi for Health (Dr. Paul Lam program), is supported by scientific studies that show that tai chi improves reach, balance, flexibility, strength, general well-being and also reduces pain. This class is designed for all levels.

 

"Puzzles & Popcorn"

February is puzzle month in the clubhouse! There will be ongoing puzzles set up in the clubhouse throughout the month. Enjoy some puzzle time and complimentary popcorn & treats all month long!

 

First Friday Active Adults Social

The first Friday of each month we will be offering an enhanced coffee & tea service for our adult members following our new Tai Chi Class at 1:15pm.
Our first social will be February 3rd.

 

Bunco Night is Back!

Wednesday, January 25th at 5:15pm

Come join us for a super fun night of Bunco at the Club! Bunco is a fast paced easy to learn dice game. Beginners more than welcome! This night will be limited to 24 people, so sign up as soon as possible. Snacks and Prizes will be provided for a really fun night!

Tennis/Pickleball Training and Injury Prevention Workshop

imgWant to improve your game?! Emphasizing stability and agility through a variety of training techniques, you will not only improve your game, but last longer on the court! We will also focus on the importance of a proper warm up, cool down and use of Theragun and foam rolling to increase range of motion and flexibility. This 4 week workshop will be taught by Steven Sarvis on Saturdays from 11am-12pm beginning January 14th. $100 members ($120 non-members)

Clinics are available to sign up one week in advance at 6am for members and five days in advance for non-members. A minimum of three participants is required for each clinic. Clinic may be canceled if this minimum is not met. You will be charged if you do not show up or if you do not cancel by 6pm the night before. Waitlisters will be notified up to one hour in advance.

La Madrona Great Pacific Swim Challenge, starts February 1st

Ever wonder what it would be like to swim the Pacific Ocean from Santa Cruz to the Hawaiian Islands? Could you go the distance to reach those sunny shores?
For the month of February, we invite all of our La Madrona swimmers to challenge yourselves to swim the distance of the Pacific Ocean from Santa Cruz to the Hawaiian Islands in our lap pool.

There will be a log binder placed at the pool house to log your laps.
All those that help us reach the islands will be awarded prizes!

 

Swim Lessons at La Madrona

Swim lessons at the club are available year-round with our incredible swim instructors. We show our students how to have fun splashing around in the water and learning how to move like a fish. We offer 1:1 private lessons or 2 students semi-private lessons. Swim lessons start the week of January 2nd.

Early Winter January 2nd-February 12th (6 weeks) - Afternoon and evening spaces available.

Intro to Swim Team

imgThis swim class is to help get your swimmer ready to go from swim lessons to a pre- or competitive swim team. Polish those swimming skills and learn how to make the leap from our rec pool to our lap pool.

This is a small class and spaces are limited.

Early Winter January 4th-February 8th
Late Winter February 15th-March 22nd

Swim Team

imgThe 2023 La Madrona Swim Team starts on Monday January 2nd. The Winter Swim Team will be offered in two 6-week sessions. The swim team is a pre-competitive team. The team practices focus on being fun while getting swimmers comfortable being in a lap pool and working with stroke development, technique and endurance. We also expand on swim team knowledge. Ages 5.5-14 years old are welcome. All swimmers must be able to swim one length of the lap pool and be able to float on their back, an assessment may be needed.

Late Winter February 13th-March 23rd (6 weeks) - Spaces Available

Parent and Me

Come join us and learn how to comfortably introduce your child to being in the water for the first time. The small pool is warm and toasty, and the mid-mornings are crispy and light. Spaces are still available for those who want to enroll for a three week session. Drop-ins are welcome.
