Lifeguard Certification

Become certified to be a Red Cross Lifeguard! This class includes certifications for

  • Lifeguarding
  • Professional Rescuer CPR

This is a blended learning program which includes an online piece and an in-classroom piece, allowing students more flexibility to complete part of the material prior to coming to class. Students must be at least 15 years old and able to complete the following minimum swim skills prior to participating:

  • Swim 300 yards, non-stop
  • Tread water for 2 minutes with no hands
  • Retrieve a 10 pound brick from 8 feet of water and swim with it for 20 yards

The in-person class times are typically 3:45 - 7:00pm on Friday and 9:00am - 6:00pm on Saturday/Sunday, but actual class times will be announced to participants prior to the beginning of the session.

The class is $310 and includes the certificate upon successful completion. Students must be present for all in-person hours and must pass the Red Cross tests in order to receive certificate.

Program space is limited to 6 spots and a minimum of 5 participants. Members’ accounts will be billed. Non-members must pay the club in advance and have a completed guest waiver on file. Billing and online portion provided after completion of precourse. Because La Madrona is a private club, non-members visiting the club for programming are not allowed use of the facility outside of their paid programming. Please wait for your class to begin before using the facility and use is not allowed after programming.

Withdrawal/Refund and Completion: Registration selections may only be altered by the start of programming for a club credit. Participants must complete the online portion before attending the in-person classroom portion. Full attendance and participation of in-person classroom portions with completion of both the individual and team rescue, and CPR/AED scenarios and passing a multiple-choice written exam by at least 80% is required to obtain certification at conclusion of course.
